Mary Eunice Balentine

Monroe Calvin Keys, born Sept. 15, 1826.  Married at Park Hill, May 31, 1855 Lucy Lowrey Hoyt, born Sept. 16, 1831.  She graduated from the Female Seminary in 1854.  He was a member of Capt. Benjamin Wisner Carter’s Company in the confederate service.  He died March 3, 1881 & she died Aug. 24, 1912.  They were the parents of Mary Eunice, born May 31, 1856; Lydia Emma, born Sept. 16, 1858; Fannie Myrtle, born Nov. 5, 1862; Sarah Ann, born Oct. 6, 1865; Elizabeth Riley, born Jan. 13, 1868; Monroe Amory, born Feb. 21, 1870 & Lucy D. Keys, born March 31, 1872.  Mary Eunice married Dec. 28, 1875, Hamilton Balentine, son of Rev. Hamilton Balentine & Anna Hoyt Balentine, born April 18, 1850.  He died Feb. 22, 1900.  She died April 25, 1920.  They were the parents of Mary Eunice, born May 4, 1899 & Ellen Stella Balentine, born May 5, 1892.  Mary Eunice Balentine was educated in Vinita & the Northeastern State Normal & is a teacher.  Ellen Stella Balentine was educated in Vinita (Valetine’s Business College Graduate) & is a stenographer.  Both of the sisters live with their maternal aunt: Sarah Ann, who married on Oct. 26, 1887 John Samuel, son of John Bradley & Amanda (Blankenship) LeForce, born Jan. 27, 1864 in Indiana.  Mrs. LeForce was educated in Worcester Academy & Female Seminary.  Mr & Mrs LeForce are Methodists.  He is a prosperous farmer & stockman at Vinita.
