Wills Town Mission

Wills Town Mission

My ancestor Rev. Ard Hoyt was superintendent of Brainerd. His son in
law Rev. William Chamberlain married his daughter Flora Hoyt there at
that mission. Then they left that mission for a new field among the
Choctaws.

Rev. Chamberlain founded Willstown Mission on 3/28/23 located at
Wills Valley, Alabama. He was in charge of the mission until 1838/39
(forced Indian removal/trail of tears). Its cemetery still exists. This
cemetery is the final resting place of SUPT. ARD HOYT 1770-1828 ,
Missionary to the Cherokee Indians here and at Brainerd (TN) 1818-1828.
